The financial wingwoman for female founders

30 May 2024

Are you looking for some calmness about your business, knowing that you’re on top of your numbers and no longer need to waste precious fun time? 😎

Preesha Chhaya of Beaver Bee will help you understand which aspect of your numbers are critical to know and what they mean. She will gently train you to take control of your finances and feel confident about your business decisions, freeing up time and energy for yourself whilst knowing that you’re on course for success 🌟

Preesha had a branding photoshoot with me in Spaces, Victoria earlier this month. It was the perfect location for her as it’s full of soft neutral colours and backdrops to compliment her brand style and colours. She’s a super warm, approachable person so it was important to be in an environment to match this with nothing too formal. We used a number of different props including her favourite item – her very on-brand-coloured calculator obviously! If you look closely you can also spot a very cute bee on her mug ☺️

We had such a great chat whilst swopping set ups with outfits and props, it was brilliant working with Preesha. And now she had a fab new pool of images, ready for all her marketing needs 📷

If you’re a female entrepreneur do have a look at Preesha’s website to learn more about how she can help you and your business florish 😆

Thinking of going to a Greek Island anytime soon?

23 May 2024

I love that I get to meet so many interesting people and businesses in my job ❤️ Maria Pitrakkou was no exception 😊

Maria hosts My Greek Island podcast where she and her cohost George talk about all different aspects of Greek Island travels. They cover getting around, avoiding the crowds, navigating greek supermarkets, and what to do in Athens if you have a spare 48hrs – in between island hopping or just a city break. They’ve both travelled extensively in Greece and still do, so their knowledge is huge!

Maria needed some new headshots for her speaker profile as she was invited to be a panelist on a National Geographic Traveller event this month – Plan the Ultimate Greek Island Hopping Adventure. We chose Spaces, Ealing for her photoshoot location as we wanted some white and bright backdrops that gave the right vibe. Here are a few examples 📷

I’ve not been to Greece for a while but Maria completely reminded me of what a magical place it is ☀️

Go have a listen @mygreekisland and read her great blogs for more inspiration 🌟😎

Branding photoshoots are just so much fun!

17 May 2024

I did a branding photoshoot with Marie Loney recently and it was a lot of fun.

Marie is an executive wellbeing coach and full of energy and positivity – her consultancy business is aptly called Glow Consultancy. We started off in the beautiful Allbright Townhouse and then did a little tour around Bond Street to make use of the many neutral backdrops to complement her website. We did a few colourful ones too, just because they were such a great fit to her brand colours 🌟

Branding photoshoots have a lot of thought put into them both by me and the client so that we have a solid plan of which shots we’d like to capture for their marketing, and therefore which props and outfits would work best. The client completes a questionnaire, we draw up a shot list, we have a pre photoshoot zoom, photoshoot guidance sheets, WhatsApp chats about outfits and anything else required… everyone is different but whatever it takes to make sure that we can optimise the photoshoot time and it be as stress-free as possible beforehand and on the day 😅

Marie works with executives to help them achieve a better work-life balance and a happier healthier mindset. Her team can offer guidance and support to manage stress, reduce overwhelm and feel in control of their lives again. If you’d like to know more about her work or are looking for some support, do look at Glow Consultancy London. She is such a friendly, bubbly person, I can really recommend working with her 😊

It was a great morning photographing Maria, with some learning for me too. She’s got a background in fashion, including directing models on photoshoots, so I didn’t hold back from quizzing her on her own tips for posing 😆

Thanks Marie 🙏

Branding images for a naturopath

28 March 2024

Seeds, greens, fibre and chat!

It was really great to meet Enrida Kelly to do some new branding photos for her. She is a naturopathic colon hydrotherapist and has a clinic in London offering naturopathy, massage therapy and food intolerance support. Gut health is one of my favourite topics (see also my last blog 😉 so we had lots to chat about 😆

We’re planning to do some more branding photos in her clinic but for these she wanted a more neutral space for headshots and images with the tools of her trade, so we used Spaces in Ealing. It’s super light and airy and has a variety of surfaces and backgrounds that worked really well with her brand style. Finding the right location for photoshoots is always key to branding photography. Sometimes we use the client’s own workspace or office but there are lots of options indoors and out that I can suggest and I’m always on the look-out for new locations, so that I can match your brand to the ideal setting. It’s not just about the interior design of location and light but also the feel that it conveys in images 📷 😊

Have a look at Enrida’s website A Natural Path to Health to learn more about her work 😊

London branding photoshoot for a fashion blogger

March 2024

Here’s hoping I pick up some fashion coolness!

I’ve followed Kate Hiscox of @wearsmymoney for years and love the way that she portrays her brand. She always retains the ability to be really cool whilst also having a brilliant sense of humour. Her posts and blogs on Claudia Winkleman’s outfits on The Traitors and how you can recreate them were genius – I love Claudia and her wardrobe 💕

Before any photoshoot, I give my clients plenty of tips and advice on what to wear for headshots and branding images but for those who want more inspiration on how to achieve a look, Kate’s blogs are perfect. She covers a good range of formalities and her blogs are ideal for finding styles that work well for your brand. Obviously if The Traitors look is a good match for your brand, you’re all set to go! And I’m very jealous 😂

We used Kate’s kitchen extension area for her photoshoot as it’s where she does her writing and where many of her outfit demonstrations have been filmed. The room has great natural light and beautifully coloured backdrops – which is one reason she does her videos there 😆. My first suggestion for photoshoot locations is always to consider your own work environment as that’s where you most feel at home and in the zone.

Working with Kate was really good fun, we did a couple of contrasting outfits with lots of different set ups, props and no props. She’s worked with Naheed (@zek_fitness_nutrition), an amazing personal trainer whom I photographed a few years ago so it was lovely to talk all things gym and weights haha! 🌟

Kate’s blog is on WearsMyMoney and you can find a whole host of different ideas and tips for outfits, always providing for small as well as bigger budgets. Do have a look at her insta page too and find her post about strength training with Naheed 💪🏻

Here are a few of Kate’s new branding images 😁📷

New headshots for a nutritionist & lifestyle practitioner

23 February 2024

The perfect combination of photography and gut health!

I’m really fascinated by the gut and how instrumental it is to our mental as well as physical health. I love a mixture of book genres but one of my favourite bedtime reading has always been Gut by Giulia Enders (the illustrations are particularly descriptive and hilarious). So I was really excited to do some headshots for Jessica O’Dwyer who is a nutrition & lifestyle practitioner in London and spends lots of time helping people protect their microbiomes.

Jessica works with lots of corporates and her brand colours are very neutral with plenty of white so the Victoria coworking Spaces was a good fit as it’s very light and airy with neutral furnishings and plenty of plants. I do headshots in a number of the Spaces sites all over London but I particularly like the Victoria one for their floor to ceiling windows and nice outdoor backdrops too.

Jessica offers private nutrition consultations and psychology sessions as well as corporate wellness packages. She is a specialist in chronic fatigue and has had real success in relieving some of the symptoms in her clients over time🌟 Chronic fatigue is so debilitating mentally and physically, with limited treatment options, it must be amazing to find something that can help. Have a look at her website to learn more about how she works 😊

I do lots of headshots and branding photography for businesses in the fitness and wellbeing industry. Getting people to talk about their work, as well as other things, is very easy when they are passionate about what they do. The resulting images are always full of engagement, energy and natural enthusiasm and really show off their personality. Clients love the experience (having expected it to be stressful and awkward 🤪) and my job is not only a breeze but I get to learn all about them and their favourite topic. The gut in Jessica’s instance! 😆

Headshot photoshoot with a corporate empathy speaker

14 February 2024

A very calm headshot photoshoot in a great coworking space.

I’ve been working a lot lately in some coworking places called Spaces. They have locations all over London and the great thing is, if you join, you can go to any of them. I became a coworking member primarily as I love their neutral yet warm and well curated environments full of plants and soft furnishings. A particular favourite of mine is the Victoria one as it has tonnes of natural light and is also near some very cool outdoor backdrops.

I’d been talking to Katie Mantwa George about doing some new headshots for her for a while and then I did some test shots of the Spaces in Victoria and realised it would be a perfect location for her 🌟 Katie is an empathy speaker and works a lot with corporates, often incorporating meditation into her workshops. She wanted to be able to show how accessible meditation can be in the workplace, so having an office environment that had a contemporary and calm feel to it was critical. She also wanted to demonstrate how you can practise meditation with minimal needs: a comfortable office chair is more than sufficient.

All my headshots come with a full briefing including advice on clothes, make up, accessories, anything else to bring and things to consider to get the most out of yours photography time. Katie had prepped well with a great combination of outfits that work really well with her brand colours and feel. Once we’d talked through which outfits to do in which order we got started on a nice range of set ups in different parts of the space. Photoshoots are generally one long chat, whilst moving from a chair to a table to another chair, to a sofa, with outfit changes along the way. It was only just above 0C outside (it was that freeezing week in January!) so we popped out for a quick few photos to add more to her mix of images.

Katie’s company is called Being Human Well and she offers a really interesting combination of workshops on empathy & compassion along with guided meditation. She’s also a children’s author. We talked a lot about her work coming up as well as her impending 40th birthday, new food places we’ve found, and lots of other topics we both love. Have a scroll below to see just a few of the resulting images and guess what we were talking about when!

I’d love you to have a look at her website and see the work she does to boost businesses and individuals in their wellbeing. And don’t forget to admire her new photos too, it’s always good to see how clients use their lovely new headshots and branding images 😆

Mini branding photoshoot with MD of Fabulous Networking

7 February 2024

A branding photoshoot full of chat, fun and creativity.

Personal Branding photoshoots are more detailed than headshots in that they delve a bit deeper into what your business offers and show even more of your amazing personality! They help people visualise working with you and potential customers will quickly get to know and trust your brand. We use your work tool props which are also great for making you feel comfortable in front of the camera – you’ll forget I’m even there 😁

Branding photoshoots are a very easy way of creating a bank of engaging images that take care of all your social media and website needs. You’ll never have to use stock images again hurray!

A few times a year I offer mini branding sessions on specific days, in great locations which suit multiple brands or can be adapted to their style. These are half hour mini photoshoots packed with as many outfits or props as we can. They are perfect for businesses with a smaller budget or who want to tip their toe into the water and discover what brand photography has to offer. I give plenty of advice and tips on how to prepare for your session and what to bring so you don’t need to worry about anything.

This is Glenda Shawley, who runs Fabulous Networking, a brilliant set of network groups in and around London. Together, she and her members help each other’s businesses thrive, with practical solutions and moral support. Running a small business can be a very fulfilling but isolating experience and network groups can play an essential part in keeping people in good mental health. Glenda and I had a lovely half hour catching up in her mini branding session, with her doing what she does best: talking about working with people, and me capturing her warm, friendly personality. We did lots of different sets up using her everyday tools to give a flavour of her work, as well as incorporating elements of her book club for businesses. Glenda’s also a published author so obviously we included her very own book, Founded After 40 🌟

Scroll below for a taster of some of the images that I put into Glenda’s branding photoshoot gallery. If you’re looking for a new network to meet lots of inspiring business owners, do get in touch with Glenda and have a trial visit @fabulousnetworking or have a look at her website

Branding photoshoot with an interior designer

10 January 2024

A photoshoot full of colour, laughter and creativity.

I love doing branding photoshoots and having the chance to talk to people about their business, the finer details of what they offer and how they approach their work. It’s a real privilege to get such a personal insight and understand the huge value that they give their customers. And this is what I aim to capture in their images, to enable them to share the insight and help customers and potential customers visualise how it would be to work with them.

Working with Jacqueline Douglas was a complete treat. An experienced interior designer and talented artist, she has a really deep understanding of how to create positive and uplifting environments with sustainable materials, often against tight budgets. We did her branding photoshoot in Brentford School for Girls, where she has been working for the past year or so, giving it a huge refurbishment. We tried to cover as many spaces as possible, incorporating headshots and action shots to show some of the different stages that are involved in her refurbishment work. Every room was a joy – the common room, staff room, maths block, arts block, reception area, canteen, corridors, break out spaces, garden quiet area – a never ending surprise of carefully curated colours and furnishing, many of which were preloved. The attention to detail was stunning as is the obvious boost to mental health that will be enjoyed by all the students and staff. It was a huge pleasure to capture it all in images.

Point of learning too, that there is evidence to show that artificial plants can provide great benefit for your well being, they don’t all have to be real 🪴

Scroll through the gallery below to see some of the images we captured in Jacqueline’s branding photoshoot. If you need an interior designer for community or public spaces get in touch with by following her on insta @jacquelinedouglasdesign or have a look at her website

Outdoor headshots in The City & Shoreditch

11 September 2023

Doubling up with two locations for maximum variety.

I keep writing about how amazing London is for locations and backdrops but this photoshoot with Connie, a final year Cambridge student, was a perfect example 😊 We wanted to capture a series of headshots which had a corporate and financial feel to them as well as a set of colourful funky profile images.

We started off in The City near Bank for lots of neutral backdrops of stone pillars and cream walls. But don’t mistake “neutral” for “boring”, these backgrounds lend an elegance and stature to photos particularly coupled with slightly more formal outfits. There are some nice cafes nearby which are great for quick changes as well as a pit stop for coffee. We then hopped across to Shoreditch for a real mix of colours, stripes, graffiti patterns, plus some greenery and plainer backdrops too. There’s pretty much everything on offer there, including plenty of options with cover from the sun – it was 30C that day so this was quite key!

Outdoor headshot photoshoots like these are always really fun and this comes through in your photos, giving you images full of personality. Although I’ll have checked out the areas in advance, there are often new hoardings or painted backdrops that suddenly appear to make each photoshoot even more unique. Lots of people and businesses have multiple dimensions and their headshot and branding photography needs to reflect this. What I love about Shoreditch is that in 20-30 minutes we can capture headshots or branding images with backdrops that can be completely tailored to you, just look at some of the many options below. It’s a headshot photographer’s dream and is ready and waiting for you 😁
